Leverkusen match reaction

Here is the match reaction after the 2-1 home defeat to Bayer 04 Leverkusen:

Markus Babbel: We had something to do with the fact that Leverkusen didn't get into the game. I thought we played well in the first half but had the better chances in the second. Everyone in the stadium saw that we wanted to win the game. We went behind from a set piece situation and made a reckless error for the second goal we conceded. Despite that, we gave everything in the second half and deserved a point.

Sascha Lewandowski: We are not pleased with our performance. After going ahead we were far too passive and in the second half we were close to being under constant pressure. In the end we just needed to hold onto the win, something that's not our style.

Sven Schipplock: Of course I wanted to help the team and score the equaliser. I had good chances too but unfortunately just couldn't find the back of the net. It was virtually the same situation as last week. We were asleep for the first half and then played a much better second. We were aggressive, solid on the ball and had chances. It is difficult though, when you are chasing the game from two goals down.

Marvin Compper: We are still conceding too many goals but nothing fell for us today. We must take a lot from the good chances we had though. We need to find the right impetus straight from the start. The team gave everything today and it's a shame we didn't get anything from the encounter. If you look at the way we played in the second half then it's only a matter of time before we start winning again.

Vincenzo Grifo: It's disappointing when you consider how many chances we had. The ball just didn't want to go in today and I don't know why. We have enough quality and must transfer that so that we can take our chances.

Fabian Johnson: We had chances to equalise, particularly in the second half. We are conceding too many goals and are not equalising. We must work to change this.

Andreas Müller: In quite a few situations, we've simply got to get rid of the ball. Just as they did against Wolfsburg, the team put in a huge amount of effort and were not rewarded, particularly in the second half when we were full of passion. We are working on the problems that we have. We won't give up. I know just how hard the team are working and they will eventually be rewarded.
