FC Bayern 7-1 TSG 1899 Hoffenheim – match reaction

Hoffenheim's 7-1 defeat to FC Bayern is their heaviest loss in their history as a Bundesliga team. What did the managers and players of the respective sides have to say about the result?

Markus Babbel: It was the same a few months ago when I came here with Hertha Berlin. You do your preparations, you have a plan for the game, and then suddenly your 3-0 down. I think we can be happy that we only conceded seven. We gave them far too much respect from the first kick to the last and don't produce anything like what we're capable of.

Jupp Heynckes: I'm very satisfied with my team's performance. Unlike in Leverkusen, we were very good for the entire 90 minutes and took our chances when they fell to us. We reached another level today, and some of our football to fashion those chances was outstanding.

Marvin Compper: We have to say sorry to the fans who came and watched us, because that was a poor performance. We have to be much better against VfB Stuttgart in our next game. Then we can put this game to bed.”

Tom Starke: To be honest, I don't want to discuss the game. There was a difference in class between the two teams. We took a real beating today, and they taught us a footballing lesson. But we have to move on as we have a big game with Stuttgart next Friday.

Sandro Wieser: Bayern were much stronger than us, it just wasn't our day. But it's important that we still keep looking forward, as we have a tough game coming up.

Vestergaard: It's a little embarrassing; I've never been on the end of a scoreline like that. I'm disappointed and really quite shocked.
