Wirsol board member Markus Wirth put pen to paper on three-year contract for the naming rights to 1899 Hoffenheim's stadium, which will henceforth be known as the “WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena” for the next three years at least.
Wirth sees the sponsorship package as an investment in the Wirsol brand: “We're looking to establish a nationwide distribution network and the Rhein-Neckar-Arena is a fantastic platform for our local solar energy provider to reach beyond our local market.”
Dietmar Hopp, the 1899 Hoffenheim chairman, believes the agreement with the newest sponsor as a strategic advantage for his club. The combination of the world's largest solar panel manufacturers, as the main sponsor and Germany's leading solar panel installers as the second creates an interesting partnership that offers rewards beyond football. “Wirsol will use the Suntech modules and combine it with their engineering expertise to create a truly unique solar power system, that will benefit the local Rhein-Neckar metropolitan area.”
