Reaction against SC Freiburg

1899 Hoffenheim were again left to rue their complacency and inability to kill off matches as ten-men SC Freiburg came from a goal down at half time to win 3.2 inside the badenova-Stadion. Here's what those involved had to say about the match:

Marco Pezzaiuoli: Today we saw both teams looking to attack in the game as both wanted to get the win. We became the victims today of the fact that we failed to put the game to bed. Having gone a goal down the team showed great strength in picking themselves up and deservedly took the lead before the break. We wanted to keep the pressure on in the second half, but the turning point was the equaliser. We were too passive after that even though we managed to keep creating chances. After that Freiburg gave us a lesson of how to use your passion to your advantage in a match even if you a man down.

Robin Dutt: We started the match really well and built up a lot of pressure in the opening stages. The team was playing some really good football and were working hard for the ball. Going a goal up put the wind in our sails, but Hoffenheim still managed to turn the game in their favour. However, in the second half the body language told me there was still something in the game for us. We showed great spirit and Baumann kept in the game with some of his saves. What the team achieved today is beyond words and praise. We've reached our season target now, which is a huge compliment to my team.

Tom Starke: I can't understand how we ended up losing today, but the blame for the third goal rests solely at my feet. I waited a moment too long to come for the ball and it cost us a point in the end.

Vedad Ibisevic: The result is difficult to digest. Going in at the break we were in a commanding position, but I can't explain how we managed to let a match like this slip through our fingers even though we had an extra man.

Julian Schuster: Our second half performance was nothing short of sensational. I will admit that the goal from my corner was not meant to go in, but of course I'm pleased that it went in.
