Hoffenheim start training with lactate test

Three days after the superb 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund, Hoffenheim's first team have begun preparing for the coming clash against newly-promoted FC Augsburg with a lactate test

As early as Tuesday morning the squad began running laps at the training ground. Despite the manageable temperature, burdens on the players were still heavy, since their bodies were being tested to the limit. The first lactate test was completed at the end of June at the training camp in Feldkirchen before the season began, so this one should give the players and fitness staff some information about the quality of the training exercises completed in the last few weeks.

After intensive sessions in the morning, training took a more leisurely approach after midday. Manager Holger Stanislawski, together with assistant managers Klaus-Peter Nemet and André Trulsen, had turned the training pitch into a playground with cones, sticks and small goals. Around 150 spectators had as much fun watching the exercises and the players did completing them. In store were keep-it-up exercises, shooting practice, somersaults and push-ups. The players had fun, but also completed the tasks with the requisite seriousness, to keep themselves focused on the job in hand. Today Stanislawski had his team on the training ground at 2 o'clock.

The German Football Federation (DFB) also confirmed yesterday that TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will play at home to 1. FC Köln in the second round of the German Cup. The match will take place on Tuesday 25th October at 20.30 in the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar Arena. You can find information regarding tickets at achtzehn99.de.
