Heinz Seyfert nears return

A few weeks ago, Hoffenheim's Heinz Seyfert had to have a knee operation. But what might have ended the careers of many players has turned out to be a comparatively minor lay-off for the man who is Hoffenheim through-and-through.

Seyfert has been having daily physiotherapy since the operation, but is close to a full recovery. The crutches he has been seen using will soon be a thing of the past. “I feel good, and I'm working hard towards a recovery”, explained Seyfert.

The 63-year-old, Hoffenheim's record goalscorer, is in line to be able to partake in first team training for the club's game at home to SC Freiburg this weekend, earlier than the team doctors had expected. “Heinz is an extraordinary athlete. The speed of his recovery is all down to him, his determination and hard work”, admitted Dr. Henning Ott. Manager Holger Stanislawski also hopes to have him available for the SC Freiburg game, but insists his full recovery is the foremost priority. “Heinz is recovering well, and we'd love to have him back as soon as possible. But we can't rush things.”
