Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 1899 Hoffenheim – Match Reaction

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim were on the end of a 2-0 defeat to Leverkusen in the BayArena this evening. Find out here what the managers and players of the respective sides had to say about the result.

Holger Stanislawski: “If you concede goals like we did tonight, it's tough to get points from games. We're working hard to get create chances and get in good positions, but the goals just aren't coming. But we're giving away too many easy goals as well. We started poorly, and we didn't begin to play until we were a goal down. The goals will come, but we need to improve. It's hard when you come away with nothing because we put in a good performance today.”

Tom Starke: “I'm unhappy on a personal level tonight. I should have done better with the first goal and parried the ball away from danger. He struck his free-kick well and the ball moved, but that's not a good enough excuse.”

Daniel Williams: “It's hard to explain how we lost a game like that. We were good tonight, but we gifted them their goals, and you can't do that in this league. On a more positive note, we played well as a team. We just need to stop this run of poor results by continuing to work hard on the training ground.”

Robin Dutt: “We're satisfied with the result, of course, although I must say we can play a lot better than that. But winning games when you don't play well is a good sign:”

André Schürrle: “We were great in the first ten minutes. We pressed well and put them under a lot of pressure. After the goal we took our foot off the gas a little. We could have scored more in the second half, but it doesn't matter now. We're happy with the three points.”
