Leogang day 10: Tobias Weis celebrates his Birthday

A season preparation in close-by Austria has always been a good prospect for Bundesliga clubs, taking the short travel and the warm climate over the summer months into consideration.

However, the weather gods have not been kind on 1899 Hoffenheim this time around, as more rain than sun and temperatures found more regularly in the autumn months have been the standard in Leogang this summer. That this does not create a negative mood among the players was again seen on Friday. After the early morning running exercises, the players gathered around the dining table to celebrate the Birthday of Tobias Weis. Sponge Bob hats and plates were given out and the Birthday child clearly enjoyed the thoughtful gestures: "The boys really made an effort and I'm excited to find out what else they have in store for me. We will keep wearing the hats all day, except during the training sessions of course," said Tobias Weis. The 25-year-old then blew out the candles on his cake and showed no hesitation in telling what his wish was: "I want to stay healthy, that's the most important thing. The last few months weren't easy with the surgery and rehab. I want to leave all that behind me and stay fit for as long as possible. My big goal is to score my first Bundesliga goal."

The second training session started at 10:30 a.m. The players jogged around the pitch clapping and even found the time to give Weis his "Happy Birthday" song. After an intensive warm up program, the players engaged in several exercises including the practice of their finishing. The evening plans were left up to the players themselves. Over the past few days, several players have found their passion for playing poker. "Christian Eichner is definitely the king of poker here. You always know what kind of hand he has got," giggled Tobias Weis. On the penultimate day of their training camp, Hoffenheim will play their third and last test match against Greuther Fürth.
