Interview with Demba Ba

Having been out for an extended period of time due to injuries, Demba Ba is finally recreating some of the form that has made him a crowd favourite in Kraichgau. On Friday evening, the Senegalese striker scored a sensational effort that turned out to be the all important equaliser against 1. FC Köln. achtzehn99.de caught up with the front man to ask him some questions.

Kaiserslautern, Bayern München and most recently 1. FC Köln. How have you coped with the strenuous schedule?

The mid-week match has made this week a little bit harder than normal. However, now we have a couple of days to recover before we play against Mainz on Saturday. Personally, I feel great. It's been a long time since I was able to play 3 games in 7 days, which means I'm really pleased.

You were injured for quite a while. Are you doing anything extra on top of your normal training routine?

Yes, at the beginning of the week. Alongside my normal training I'm doing extra weight training, whilst receiving a bit of special attention. This is helping me to be able to take the brunt of what is thrown my direction.

You have already scored twice this season. Are you content with your efforts so far?

Yes, I'm definitely pleased with my performances so far, but I know there is still room for improvement. The most important thing for me is to stay fit. I'm certain that if I can stay healthy then I'll be able to perform consistently for the team.

On Saturday you face the undefeated league leaders, Mainz. What are you expecting from this match?

I'm, of course, hoping for a win. The preparation for the game has been excellent. If we can put what we have learnt into practice on Saturday, then we've got a good chance of taking all three points. But it will definitely be a difficult game. Mainz are very dangerous on the break, they have a good team spirit and are full of confidence, for obvious reasons.
