African Cup of Nations: Obasi goal not enough

It was the worst possible start to the African Cup of Nations for Chinedu and the Nigerian 'Super Eagles' as they succumbed to defeat at the hands of Egypt. The opening goal from the Hoffenheim star wasn't enough to prevent the eventual 1-3 score line.

Chinedu Obasi made his mark on the tournament almost immediately. After just 12 minutes the attacker made his presence felt, to the delight of his Hoffenheim teammates watching the game from the 1899 dressing room. Obasi's stike from 16 meters out found the back of the net giving the Nigerians the early lead. But it wasn't to be and Nigeria now find themselves under pressure ahead of their second group game against the Republic of Benin on Saturday. In their opening game Benin split the points with Mozambique after a 2-2 draw.
