1899 in 2010: Compper on the up, Rudy faces old friends

achtzehn99.de is taking a look back at 1899 Hoffenheim's 2010. What experiences have our players gained, which moments have stuck in their memories? How many unforgettable highlights did 2010 give us? Which set backs did the men from Kraichgau have to overcome? Marvin Compper and Sebastian Rudy were the players making the headlines as 2010 brought itself to a close.

December brings an end to our look back at the year 2010. Sebastian Rudy, who had moved from Stuttgart in the summer had to face his old friends in the twelfth month. "It was certainly a strange feeling to go up against my old team. At the same time it was still a good feeling to receive such a warm welcome from the fans," stated Rudy. The match ended in a hard fought 1-1 draw, which made the result all the easier for Rudy to accept.

Meanwhile, centre-back Marvin Compper was rediscovering his form and the level of performance that Hoffenheim fans had begun to expect of him and capped of the return to form with a goal against Nürnberg. Elsewhere Jens Grahl, the third choice keeper for Hoffenheim, had a terrible collision with Andreas Ibertsberger that resulted in him going to hospital. Jens is doing a lot better now though. Speaking about the goal Compper says: "We had discussed it already that regardless of who scored we were going to lift up Jens's shirt. As a team we wanted to show him our support during this tough time." It provided a nice end to 2010.
