Ibertsberger likely to be out until Christmas

The first half of the season appears to be over for Andreas Ibertsberger. The Austrian international broke his cheekbone, eye socket and maxillary sinus during Sunday's match at SC Freiburg.

The 27-year-old was operated on in Heidelberg on Monday by Professor Plinkert. "We put in some osteosynthetic material to stabilise the fractures and we'll be monitoring his progress very closely over the next few days and weeks. At the moment, it would be right to assume that Andi will not be available until after the winter break," said team doctor Dr Pieter Beks. Ibertsberger sustained the injury when challenging for a header with Freiburg's Ivica Banovic in the 90th minute of the match.
