Goals aplenty in Schefflenz

1899 Hoffenheim stormed to a 12-0 friendly victory over non-league side SV Schefflenz on Friday.

Carlos Eduardo opened the scoring in the 11th minute, converting from the spot after Boris Vukcevic. 18-year-old Christoph Hemlein (15', 17') trebled the lead within the space of two minutes, profiting from some excellent approach play from Maicosuel and Franco Zuculini respectively. The Argentinean Zuculini (22') turned scorer for the fourth, before Marvin Compper (25') smashed home a Carlos Eduardo corner from 20 yards to make it 5-0. Tomislav Maric replaced Hemlein in the 32nd minute and proceeded to set up Boris Vukcevic for number six. Carlos Eduardo scored a fine solo goal and Maric fired home another just before the break to give the visitors an 8-0 half time lead.

Hoffenheim continued their assault on the hosts' goal in the second half. Franco (48') grabbed his second and 1899's ninth from twelve yards. A Schefflenz own-goal (71') preceded a second goal from Maric (74') which made it 11-0. Tabe Nyenty wrapped up proceedings with a 12th goal just eight minutes from time.

"I was very pleased with the first hour or so, but I would have liked to have seen us maintain that level of performance over the full 90 minutes", said Hoffenheim coach Ralf Rangnick. "It was an important match for players who haven't been getting much playing time of late," he added.
